Didn't know Griff that well, but a lot of folks in and around Fort Bragg did. Met him in Tibbs store one day and saw wings tatooed on that big arm. Asked him if he was Airborne. Said he had been and SF. Asked him if he gained weight ehen he retired from the Army. In that calm low voice he said: gained 100# when I quit smoking. I'm sure he will be greatly missed by his family and friends around the WMEV and all over. George Kell, 136 Tilley's Bridge Rd, Marion, VA, and Fayetteville, NC.(USAF Ret)

I have often thought that, to see a dead body, and to see that body laid in the grave and covered with earth, is one of the most gloomy things on earth; without the gospel it is like taking a leap in the dark. But as quick as we obtain the gospel, as soon as the spirit of man is enlightened by the inspiration of the Almighty, he can exclaim with one of old—“Oh grave, where is thy victory, Oh death, where is thy sting? The sting of death is sin, and the gift of God is eternal life, through our Lord Jesus Christ.” [1 Corinthians 15:55–57.] The resurrection of the dead presents itself before the enlightened mind of man, and he has a foundation for his spirit to rest upon. We do know for ourselves, we are not in the dark with regard to this matter. We do understand the principle of the resurrection of the dead, and that the gospel brings life and immortality to light. In this time of sadness in your life I share your pain and I pray that the Lord may bless and protect you and yours.

To the family of "Big Griff" as we knew him in Special Forces. Griff was a great American Soldier. We will miss you, old buddy. I still remember the day that we were moving the Green Beret Sport Parachute Club appliances, and you just picked up the whole dadburned refrigerator and moved it to the truck by yourself! And I STILL think it was you who whacked me in the head when I got out of hand at the Fireman's Jamboree, back when I was a student at Emory & Henry (and chasing those Marion College girls)! Thanks for your service, and your comradeship. God bless your family at this time. I'll see you on the other side, old friend. Bucky

Dear Griffith Family, I wanted to let you know that I was so sorry to hear about Pap. I never had the pleasure of meeting him until he was brought down to the intensive care unit. Although he did not have the chance to speak to me, it did not take me long to see what a wonderful person the he must be. Observing his family and grandchildren over the past 10 days really touched my heart. It was my pleasure to be able to take care of him, he was blessed with a lot of love. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
