Obituary of Charis Rector

MARION, VIRGINIA: CHARIS JEAN RECTOR, age 71, went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, L. J. and Grace Rector; a sister, Mary R. Ward; and a brother, Joe R. Rector. She was a dedicated mother and daughter. She was a kind, generous, and loving soul. She spent most of her life helping others. She was a long term employee of the Smyth Farm Bureau in Chilhowie, Virginia from 1972 until 1993. She then went on to pursue a successful career in nursing at Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Marion, Virginia. She is survived by one son, Johnny Rector of Dandridge, Tennessee; her former daughter-in-law, Beth Rector of Dandridge, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews including nieces, Christy Rector Maher and husband Brian of San Francisco, California, Pamela Ward Anderson of Concord, North Carolina, Tonia Ward Norris of Star Tannery, Virginia; and nephew Monte Ward of Glade Springs, Virginia; sister-in-law, Barbara Rector of Marion, Virginia; several cousins including, Betty Sims and husband Jack of Marion, Virginia and Ann St. Onge of Orlando, Florida; one aunt, Dorothy Roberson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a dear friend and long term caregiver, Brenda Matney of Jefferson City, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver Brown Chapel. Burial will follow in the Round Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
