Obituary of Martha Hamm
MARION, VIRGINIA: MARTHA "HATTIE" ELIZABETH HAMM, age 87, died at her daughter's home in Marion, Virginia on Sunday January, 25, 2009.
She was born in Smyth County to the late Mamie Heath Widner and James Widner and preceded in death by her husband Rev. Olin Doug Hamm, three brothers Bob Widner, Curtis Widner, Clyde Widner and three sisters Mae Buchanan, Mary Clark, Beck Lovings. She retired at Southwestern VA Mental Health Institute after 32 years.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Thelma and Donald Medley of Marion, VA; one son and daughter-in-law Dave and Doris Hamm of Independence, VA. Grandchildren: Connie Donaldson of Rural Retreat, VA; Donna and Dewayne Olinger of Marion, VA; Kim and Glen Hyatt of Baywood, VA; Larry and Debbie Hamm of Elk Creek, VA; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friend Joann Matney of Marion, VA.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Joe Powers and Rev. Charlie Walker officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Attoway Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
