Obituary of William Salter
CHILHOWIE, VIRGINIA: REV. WILLIAM T. SALTER, age 91, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at his home.
Rev. Salter was a veteran of the United States Army, and served during WWII. He was also a longtime member of Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atkins, Virginia.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Ann Crewey Salter; one sister, Erin Taylor; and one granddaughter, Kristina Rene Salter.
He is survived by one daughter and special friend, Judy Kegley and Avery Osborne of Chilhowie, Virginia; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Vicky Salter of Chilhowie, Virginia; two grandsons, Scott Lee Kegley and wife, Shana and Jordan Salter; three step-grandchildren, Shane Michael Goodpasture, Stephen Widener, and Ciera Widener; special nephew, Phillip Taylor; and special friends, Linda Owens, Cathy Hostetter, Janet Johnson, and Joyce Cheeks.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atkins, Virginia at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by Marion VFW Post # 4667. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel in Marion, Virginia. Flowers will be accepted and deeply appreciated.
