Obituary of William Ford
MARION, VIRGINIA: WILLIAM H. (HENRY) FORD, age 89, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. He was born in Dinwiddie County, Virginia to the late Howard and Carrie Watkins Ford. He was an Industrial Engineer graduate of V.P.I. and a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Ford was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Marion, Virginia, was retired from Brunswick Corporation, a Mason and an avid volunteer with Boy Scouts and Big Brothers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Perkie) Duncan Ford.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Elizabeth Ford of Chester, Virginia, Edwin and Jean Ford of Kernersville, North Carolina and Gary Ford of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two sisters, Elizabeth F. Legard of Roanoke, Virginia and Carolyn F. Duncan of Hamilton, Virginia; six grandchildren, Randy, Bryan, Nicholas, Sarah, Jaymee, and Andrew Ford; four great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Jonas officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marion Life Saving Crew, P.O.
