Obituary of Emmett Presley

MARION, VIRGINIA: EMMETT B. PRESLEY, age 78, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at his home in Marion. He retired from General Motors after over 30 years of service. Mr. Presley was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the United States Army and was also a member of Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and excellent provider. He was very proud of his family. Mr. Presley is survived by his wife, Shirley Presley of Atkins, Virginia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Melissa Presley of Bristol, Tennessee and Michael and Renee Presley of Marion, Virginia; step-children, John Clay Arnold of Ohio, Jackie Dean Arnold of Ohio, Michael "Sonny" Hamby and wife, Joyce of Sugar Grove, Virginia, Patricia Lynne Nichols and husband, Kerry of Indiana, and Sherry Ann Puckett and husband, Harold "Bud" of Saltville, Virginia; two sisters, Dorothy Roark of West Virginia and Shirley Dawson of Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, Michael Anthony Hamby, Joseph Wade Hamby, Karen Lynne Pennington, Jason Dale Hall, Christopher Aaron Puckett, Christian Nathaniel Presley, Kayla Suzzane Finney, Michael Anthony West, Matthew Wayne West, Zachary Slate, Corissa Presley, Tyler Presley, Katie Luck, and Logan Barnes; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Michael Hamby, Tanner Russell Hamby, Shania Hamby, and Garrett Hamby; special dog, Molly; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Graveside Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Francis Marion VFW Post #4467. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
