I will always remember Keith's smile and infectious laugh. He was a great friend, always cutting up and laughing, but serious when he needed to be. I haven't seen him for several years and was shocked to learn of his passing. My condolences to Richard, Barbara and Aaron, and to Julie and the boys. Keith was such a large part of Southwest Virginia that it's hard to imagine him gone. He will live on, though, through the fond memories of everyone he touched in life.

Michelle Clark-Eagle posted a condolence
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
To: The Clark, Robinson and Marion Police Department, SCSO family; Today was one of the hardest moments we all had to endure, we lost a wonderful husband, great father, a son, brother and a fellow brother of law enforcement, as a co-worker I had the privilege of knowing Keith for over 12 years, working with Keith for many of those years-I remember all the nicknames he gave us all and the talks we would have, telling each other stories or just talking about everything- We had so much fun working together and we surely did pull off some good pranks on fellow employees (Which most know about) they were innocent yet fun which makes the memories so special,(Somehow we usually would get caught) but it was what kept moral going and it helped with the stress of the job, If Keith complained it was not for just him but for all of us that worked together or for the future of Police Department, that shows what kind of person he was- not greedy or out for just himself but there to help everyone involved, Keith was a truly very smart individual, I knew I could ask him anything and he would know or would find out. Keith helped me alot when I started with the department. Through the holidays, my husband and I ran into Juli and Keith many times and even afterwards- when speaking with Keith he was just very positive about life in general. One memory I will never forget is when he met Juli and they started dating and he sat in front of my desk and told me she was a true Godsend, I knew then Keith had found his future and that is when I saw the true happiness in his heart. He spoke of his entire family alot and his family by marriage and the way he talked about each one, he highly respected and loved each one with all of his heart. The day he told me he was going to be a father, the excitement in his eyes and his face could have lifted the earth because he felt he was walking on clouds. That expression I got to see a second time when he learned his wife was pregnant with their second child. I know and have seen the true love he had and expressed for his family. Keith was a remarkable person and a true friend. If there is anything I can say further it would be that not only is this a loss to his family and friends but a true loss to the community. What ever reasons Keith felt he had to leave us, I know in my heart that he is at peace and God has given him that peace, God will help and lead all the ones that are left behind. Keith will be missed by all. My children all grew up knowing Keith as my co-worker-friend and their D.A.R.E. officer and the one who liked to pick on them when they would visit the police department or my kids would joke with him at school. He truly enjoyed his D.A.R.E. projects and all his children he taught. My prayers and thoughts are with all who Keith inspired and feel a great loss at this time. God has made a new life for Keith and he will be looking down on us all with that big smile knowing now how much influence and impact he had on all our lives. I would like to thank Sheriff Bradley and Mike Hounshell and all the SCSO for being so committed and helping my fellow co-workers through this time of loss, that shows what brother-hood is all about, respecting one another, backing each other and still helping the community. With Much Love, Michelle Clark-Eagle-C.T., Jake, Laura, Christopher, Katelyn

TO MR. CLARK'S FAMILY & FRIENDS: I DID NOT KNOW HIM BUT WANTED TO SAY HOW SORRY I WAS FOR YOUR TRAGIC LOSS. MAY GOD COMFORT YOU DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME. I can not find the words to say Exactly how I feel. That truly describes the hurt inside, For I know your pain is so real. Your heart, so heavy, with so much pain, for the empty loss inside. The tears fall down like falling rain That never seems to subside. It's very hard to say "goodbye", To the one you loved so much. But if you go to God in prayer, You'll feel His sense of touch. Think of your sorrows calmly, when daylight turns to night. Go tell it all to Jesus, For He will make it right. He's always there to listen, When your grief, to Him, you give. You'll feel the burden lifted, And again, your life you'll live. ©Ruth Ann Mahaffey~Jan. 2005

Julie, My thoughts and prayers are with your family and Keith's parents. Keith was a wonderful person and I have so many fond memories of sitting at Atkins Diner with him and Tooney and them discussing the "hilarious" situations they had gotten into at Marion PD. When Ben was little we would give him money and he would always tell Keith to take him and let him buy a John Deere tractor and the next time we would see him he would tell us what he got. I will never forget Keith being here the week before Tooney passed. He came every day and talked to Tooney (even though Tooney was unconscious) and told him how much he meant to him and how he had learned so much from him. He was there for me through the funeral and burial. I know how it is to lose a spouse and it's been three years and it's still very hard. I know when the time comes that we are in Heaven that Tooney and Keith will be sitting there telling stories and drinking coffee. God bless you! Debbie

I wish I knew what to say, I learned so much from Keith dating back to my early years in Boy Scouts. I always looked up to Keith and Aaron. Then after I got into law enforcement I enjoyed working with Keith and continued to learn from him. I pray for all his family and ask you to keep your faith in the Lord. God Bless You.

Julie, Ben, Sam, Richard, Barbara, Aaron and family, I am deeply saddened to learn of Keith’s passing. I still think fondly of the fishing trip Keith and I went on over in Grayson County back a few years ago. I will miss his playful teasing nature, like when I stepped off into a deep hole and went up to my chest in the water. His laugh was so infectious you just couldn’t get mad at him. The few times I was fortunate to be able to visit with him at your home and to see the love and compassion he had for Ben. It was truly a father’s love. You could see that he was truly proud of Ben. I have been privileged to have known Keith since my childhood. It has been an honor to have been able to call him my friend and I will miss him greatly. May God grant him peace and comfort you and your family.
