Obituary of Helen Cassell

CERES, VIRGINIA: HELEN L. CASSELL, age 89, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 in Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home, Marion, Virginia. She was a long time active member of Zion United Methodist Church, having taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Bland County Chapter # 41 O.E.S. for 39 years, an active member of the Home Extension Club and a 4-H Leader. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, an excellent cook and a fantastic homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Cassell. Mrs. Cassell is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Eddie Calvin Cassell of Kingsport, Tennessee and David Woodson and Shirley Cassell of Ceres, Virginia; five grandchildren, Debbie Barger and husband, Laymond, David Cassell, Eddie Cassell and wife, Melissa, Laurie Mergenschroer and husband, Mark, Denise Thomas and husband, Frankie; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church in Ceres, Virginia with Rev. Will Shelton and Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
