Obituary of Ernest Funk
MARION, VIRGINIA: ERNEST CHARLES FUNK, age 88, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 in Smyth County Community Hospital. Mr. Funk was a retired supervisor for Virginia House Furniture Company and a well known Smyth County Farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Summit and Virgie Funk; his wives, Ruth Sexton Funk and Frances Catron Funk; one daughter, Martha Dawkins; one son, Michael David; one sister, Georgia Meek; four brothers, Bane, Claude, French, and Jack.
He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Tom Richardson of Bluefield, West Virginia, Margaret and Fred Brazee of Tampa, Florida, Patsy and Jim Huff of Bristol, Tennessee, and Irene and Ed Grinstead of Marion, Virginia; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Brenda Funk of Marion, Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Marvin Blevins of Abingdon, Virginia; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Mary Funk of Fort Myers, Florida and Wayne and Florence Funk of Marion, Virginia.
Also surviving are twelve grandchildren; Betsy Wadman, Katie Richardson, Kim Overstreet, Kristan Huffstedler, Marc Dutton, Lori Eggleston, Karla Huff, Amy Neitch, Michael Funk, Tina Terry, Becky Terry, and Marcy Brigman. Seventeen great-grandchildren also survive, as well as several nieces and nephews
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Neville Mozingo and Rev. Charlie Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Wassum Cemetery, Atkins, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
