Obituary of Christy Kinkade
SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: CHRISTY PAUL KINKADE, age 88, passed away Monday, July 16, 2007. He is the last surviving member of his family and was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and daughter-in-law, Lily Kinkade.
He was a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee, Board Chairman, treasurer, and teacher. He was a charter member of Rye Valley Ruritan Club, served one term on the Smyth County Board of Supervisors, past chairman of Mt. Rogers District Planning Commission, and the State Planning Commission. He was raised in Missouri and graduated from Truman University. He retired from Brunswick Corporation in 1981, and he enjoyed farming as a secondary career.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille Griffitts Kinkade of Sugar Grove, Virginia; son, Richard Paul Kinkade of Taos, New Mexico; daughter, Jane Smith and husband, Charles of Green Valley, Arizona; granddaughters, Virginia Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina and Katherine Smith of Oakland, California; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Kinkade. Several, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Elizabeth United Methodist Church in Teas, Virginia with Rev. Mike Ward officiating. Private burial will follow. The Family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elizabeth United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Joanne Barton, 242 Dickeys Creek Road, Sugar Grove, Virginia 24375.
