Obituary of Chet Nicholson

CHET M. NICHOLSON, age 64, died Monday, July 16, 2007 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was raised in the San Bernardino, California area. Chet was the Family History Consultant with the church in Smyth County. He attended several colleges, including Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. Chet had been employed by McDonald-Douglas Corporation, Brunswick Corporation and American Furniture. He was a devoted and loving family man. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Edward Nicholson and two grandchildren, Charles William Cregger, Jr. and Anna Sophia Christensen. Chet is survived by his wife, Kathleen Nicholson of Marion, Virginia; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Danielle Nicholson of Washington State, Erin Christensen and husband, Cary of Trenton, Utah, D'Arcy Owens and husband, Charlie of Blounts Creek, North Carolina, and Micaela Cregger and husband, Bucky of Marion, Virginia; his mother, Claudine Sechman of Payson, Utah; six grandchildren, Johann, Shelby and Amber Christensen, Reva, Nicholson and Callie Cregger. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with the Branch President Seth Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Community Cemetery, Ceres, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
