Obituary of Guy Parks

SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: GUY ELLIS PARKS, age73, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Smyth County Community Hospital. He was a member of Comer's Creek Baptist Church and was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlotte Sheets Parks of Sugar Grove, Virginia. One daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Danny Cress of Marion, Virginia. Four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Parks of Sugar Grove, Virginia; Michael and Debbie Parks of Atkins, Virginia; Tony and Sheila Parks of Marion, Virginia; and Tim and Missy Parks of Chilhowie, Virginia. Five sisters and one brother-in-law, Katherine C. Grubb of Radford, Virginia; Clara Mae Smith of Rural Retreat, Virginia; Lydia Sheets of Atkins, Virginia; Chloetta and Bobby Hutton of Marion, Virginia; and Dottie Hicks of Sugar Grove, Virginia. One brother and sister-in-law, Jerome and Wanda Parks of Dalton, Georgia. Eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, May 2, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Comer's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Surber and Brother Andy Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Comer's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Grayson County, Virginia, where military rites will be conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at which time there will be a memorial service at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Mike Sage and Brother Larry Smith officiating.
