My father, Philip Smythe, and I send our deepest sympathy to the Nelson family. Dad said , just this past week, that Bob was truly one of the finest men that he has ever known. He enjoyed their many years together at Harwood Manufacturing. All of us remember shared family times and many days together at Christ Episcopal Church. We were blessed to have known Bob and we send our love to all of you. You are in our prayers. Love, Pat and Phil

I just learned of Bob's death and wanted to express how much I enjoyed working with Bob in the 1970's at Harwood. When Bob came to visit us in the New York office his presence gave everyone a big boost! Bob and his family will continue in my prayers.

Alice, I just learned of your father's recent passing and I just wanted you to know how very sorry I am. I always appreciated how very welcome both of your parents made me feel when I visited your home for our long-ago "algebra parties." Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Val

We were so sad to hear of the passing of Bob. He was not only a fine man, but was a great influence on me growing up in the small town of Marion and in Christ Church. My memories of that time will be with me always. You all will be in our prayers.

We are deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing on Friday. Bob was a friend of more than 40 years and a prime model of executive leadership and business, civic, and community affairs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
