Obituary of John Atkins

MARION, VIRGINIA: JOHN LESLIE ATKINS, age 80, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 in Smyth County Community Hospital. John loved horses and drawing and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Smyth County Community Hospital with twenty-eight years of service. He is survived by one sister, Pearl Shortt of Abingdon, Virginia. Two special nephews, George "Buck" Orfield and wife Brenda and Lewis "Cotton" Orfield. Two special nieces, Mildred Ferguson and husband Virgil, and Karen Ferguson. Several other nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. Mark Ross officiating. Private burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.seaverbrown.com.
