Obituary of Leona Dillman

MARION, VIRGINIA: LEONA SUE DILLMAN, widow of Kermit M. Dillman, age 67, died Saturday, December 23, 2006 in Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 9, 1939 in Smyth County, Virginia to the late James and Bessie Testerman Peak. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Whitehill. She was an avid bowler, coached the Junior Leagues, and was in the Marion Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Sue worked with the Red Cross Swim Program, the American Legion Auxiliary, as well as many other charitable organizations. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Jerry Spradlin of Burkeville, Virginia and Donna and Johnny Taylor of Marion, Virginia; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Charlotte Bennett of Marion, Virginia, Linda Peak of Cockeysville, Maryland, and Sharon and Ralph Haines of Edgewood, Maryland; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Willis "Willie" and Phyllis Richardson of Marion, Virginia, Dale "Birdie and Gilda Richardson of Jacksonville, Florida, James R. Peak of Pikeville, Maryland, Richard and Denise Peak of Parkton, Maryland, and Lowell and Pat Peak of Effingham, Illinois; two grandchildren, Roy Pafford of Charlotte Court House, Virginia and Josh Williams of Marion, Virginia; brother-in-law, Larry Dillman and wife, Linda of Negaunee, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Thelma Romans of Marion, Virginia and Ada Dillman of Tazewell, Virginia; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.seaverbrown.com.
