Obituary of Howard Rhodes
Howard Francis Rhodes, age 78, of Marion died Monday, March 15th, 2004 in the Mountain Home Veterans Hospital.
Born on May 4th, 1925, he was the son of the late George F. Rhodes and Alma Hornbaker Gaines. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army having received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, was a life member of Marion V.F.W. Post # 4667, the American Legion and the D.A.V. He was employed as a Project Engineer with Brunswick Corporation for 32 years retiring in 1992 and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Everhart Houck Rhodes in 1970, and a son, Ronald Rhodes.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Losey Rhodes of Marion. Four sons , William Eric Rhodes of Marion. Kyle Rhodes and wife, Debra, and their children, Alex and Zeb of Marion, Lyle Rhodes and wife, Deborah, and their children, Justin and Ollie of Richmond, Virginia and Dwight Rhodes, and his daughter, Cecilia of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Three step-children, Christopher Becker and wife, Jenny and their children, Christiana and Keeley , Chad Becker and Sandra Becker Joseph and husband, Donald and their children, Gabriel and Julia, all of Old Towne , Maine. One sister and brother-in-law, Mae Etta and Jack McAfee of Hagerstown, Maryland. His step-mother, Georgetta Rhodes of Fort Pierce, Florida. His mother-in-law, Arbutus Houck Horner and a sister-in-law, Emma Jean Houck Knipe and husband, Howard all of Marlowe, West Virginia. A brother-in-law, Woodrow Gary Losey of Roanoke, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 16th at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Mr. Scott Freeman, Mr. Howard Burton and the Rev. Mike Sage officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 til 7:45 p.m. prior to the service.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the Harmony Cemetery in Marlowe , West Virginia.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Karl Kalber, Blaine Dancy, Jim Sullivan, Mike Sturgill, Fausto Obregon, Moe Weaver, Bill Pugh, David Helms, Kenny Scott, Darrell Thompson, Dr. Marvin Winters and Dr. Paul Brown.
