Obituary of Georgia Gates

CERES, VIRGINIA: GEORGIA GATES, age 88, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She is survived by one daughter, Goldie Harris and husband, Roy of Ceres, Virginia. Four sons, Harlow Gates and wife, Shirley, and Harvey Gates and wife, Jackie all of Rural Retreat, Virginia; William "Bill" Gates and, wife, Anita of Hanover, Pennsylvania; Cecil Gates and wife, Elaine of Westminster, Maryland. Thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all staff at Francis Marion Manor and Smyth County Community Hospital, as well as, their friends for all the acts of kindness during Mrs. Gates' illness and death. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 4, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Ridgedale United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Turley officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgedale Cemetery in Rich Valley, Virginia. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel, and at the home of Mrs. Gates at 107 Lick Creek Rd. in Ceres, Virginia after the burial.
