Obituary of Elizabeth Motley

MARION, VIRGINIA: ELIZABETH BUCHANAN MOTLEY, age 100 died Thursday, April 20, 2006 in Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home. Born February 4, 1906 to the late Mattie Graham Buchanan and John Gatewood Buchanan in Rich Valley, Virginia. She was of the Presbyterian Faith. Mrs. Motley attended William King High School, Abingdon, Virginia, Marion College, Marion, Virginia, Stonewall Jackson College and the University of Virginia. She served as a hospital laboratory technician in Harrisonburg, Virginia, Bluefield, West Virginia, Sweetwater, Tennessee, and Abingdon, Virginia. Mrs. Motley was first married to John Buckner Garnett of Culpepper, Virginia in 1927 and later divorced. She was second married to James Coleman Motley, M.D. of Abingdon, Virginia in 1941 who is now deceased. She was a life long democrat. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Rich Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating
