Obituary of Iris Carter
IRIS ANN BLEVINS CARTER, age 57, passed away after a long courageous battle with heart disease and diabetes on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was of the First Church of God Faith. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Wayne Carter, Jr. and her father, Rev. Virgil S. Blevins. She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry W. Carter, Marion, Virginia. Also surviving are her mother, Lois M. Blevins of Chilhowie, Virginia; Two brothers, Buddy Blevins and wife Rita of Seven Mile Ford, Virginia and Nathaniel Blevins and wife Melissa of Chilhowie, Virginia; Two sisters, Ronna F. York and husband David of Bristol, Virginia and Doris J. Blevins of Bristol, Virginia; Special nephew, Adam Blevins and nephews, Aaron Blevins, Jacob Blevins and wife, Hope, Jason York, Justin Williams, Geoff Cook and wife, Annasue; Niece, Kim Sayers and husband Steve; Two great nephews, Matthew Cook and Tyler Sayers; Sister-in-law, Patsy Cook and husband George of Rich Valley, Virginia; Loyal and faithful cousins, Dan and Katherine Blevins; Many relatives and a host of friends mourn her departure. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Ron Whitener, Rev. Charlie Walker and Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgedale Cemetery, Rich Valley, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel
