I am embarrassed to discover only today that Mr. Holmes had died. I looked for him to help identify persons in a 1956 photograph. I worked for Charlie at Marion Wholesale '70-'73 summers and holidays while attending college. I found him consistent, approachable, honest and fair. And I deeply appreciated having the work. While in town managing Dad's final months and his estate, I saw him frequently having coffee and always enjoyed our conversations. I miss him.

With thoughts of deepest sympathy, I was remembering the last time we were able to be together with Uncle Charles. It was at Hungry Mother's Park. Many years before that, at least 35, I enjoyed visits with him during the summer when my grandfather, Fred Holmes, took me to visit. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. Sincerely, Elaine Thigpin Smith Holmes February 13, 2006
