Obituary of Gene Cline
MARION, VIRGINIA: GENE EDWARD "CURLY" CLINE, age 55, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006 at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee. Born January 24, 1951 in Marion, Virginia to James G. Cline and the late Elizabeth F. Cline he was a veteran of the United States Army having served two tours in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star, and the Army Commendation Medal with two service bars. Mr. Cline had a great sense of humor and had a strong love for his immediate family. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alberta Cline; his grandfather, James Dallas Cline; an uncle, Roger Cline; a step-son, Dean Poston; a niece, Lisa Evans; and a sister-in-law, Pamela Blevins Cline. He is survived by two daughters, Monica Michelle Puckett and Crystal Gale Stewart both of Saltville, Virginia; Two sons, Shannon E. Cline and Jeffrey W. Cline both of Saltville, Virginia. Step-son, Ronnie Poston; Two step-daughters, Vickie and Sandy; his father, James G. Cline of Marion, Virginia Three sisters, Sharon Huff of Roanoke, Virginia, Yvonne Cline of Rural Retreat, Virginia, Valarie Doane and husband, Roger of Saltville, Virginia; Five brothers, James R. "Ronnie" Cline of Marion, Virginia, William Gregory Cline of Rural Retreat, Virginia, Garland Wayne Cline of Delray Beach, Florida, Richard L. Cline and wife, Martha of Marion, Virginia, and Gary L. Cline and wife, Mabél of Bristol, Tennessee. Four grandchildren. Nine nieces and eight nephews, Sumer Nicole Huff, Victoria Woffenden, Jessica and Veronica Cline, Richard A. Cline, Melissa Cline, Stacy Taylor, Tatiana Cline, Tina Tedder, Tamera Breedlove, Derrick Cline, Aaron Cline, Mark Huff, Roger Doane, Jr., Gregory Doane, State Trooper James Brian Cline, and T.R. Sexton, several aunts and uncles, and a special family friend, Gary Arnold also survive. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia, where military rites will be conducted by Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
