Obituary of Noel Atkins

MARION, VIRGINIA: NOEL L. ATKINS, age 83, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at his home in Marion, Virginia. He was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army and retired from the State of Virginia Correctional Facility. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 ½ years, Doris Manick Atkins of Marion, Virginia; two daughters, Greta Atkins and Bonita "Bonnie" Raber and husband, Jim, both of Marion, Virginia; one son, Keith "Sonny" Atkins of Marion, Virginia. A sister, Frances Compton of Victoria, Virginia; one brother, Carl Atkins of Reidsville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Brittany Marshall, Cory Atkins, Josh Atkins, Jolene Atkins, Brooklyn Raber; and two great-grandsons, Caleb Sawyers and Jacob Grinstaff. A very close friend and neighbor, Nora June Totton also survives. Graveside Services were held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia, where Rev. Fred Harris officiated and a full military service was conducted by the Francis Marion VFW Post #4667.
