Obituary of Stella Adams
MARION, Va.
Stella Ruth Adams, who proudly carried the endearment “Meme”, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in her 80th year at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va.
Stella fought the most dignified battle against cancer, as she did every fight she encountered. Stella was born on August 11th, 1941 in Smyth County Virginia, a daughter of the late Ruby Gross Jones and Lloyd Sherell Jones. Stella was known for her overly calm demeanor and attitude of everything will be just fine. Her smile and determination to see any obstacle through will be missed. She never let an opportunity pass to tell someone “The Lord blesses me everyday.” She was always complemented for her tasteful appearance and accepted compliments graciously.
She was preceded in death by her brother Ronny Allen Jones.
Stella is survived by her daughter, Kristy Testerman May and devoted son-in-law Robert “Todd” May; granddaughters, Emma Ruthanne May, Molly Parklynn May and Sofia Irene May; sister-in-law, Mary Smith Jones who was more like a sister; aunt and lifelong friend, Mildred Gross; special nieces Regina Jones and Tina (Tommy) Holyfield; several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Smyth County Community Hospital Cancer Center.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 3 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. with Pastor Darrell Lambert officiating. Private family graveside service will be held at Walkers Creek Cemetery.
