Dr. Montero is and always will be loved by myself and my family. He was my 2 children's pediatrician for many years in Pulaski, Va. and always showed such loving care and gentleness. "GOD" Blessed him with a love for children which all could see and feel and I feel Blessed to have had him be a part of our lives. I know he is happy at home in Heaven!!!

Dr. Raul was my pediatrician when I was a child in Pulaski VA. He was so gentle and kind. I remember his smile was soothing to a scared child. So very sorry for your loss..

Thank you, Dr. Montero, for taking such great care of my children, Lisa and Donnie, for many years. You were with me and my son when he went to be with Jesus 14 years ago. You stayed with me for a long time, holding and comforting me and Lisa the best you could. You understood. You loved Donnie, too. You will be so missed, but I'm sure you are receiving your many rewards, and, most importantly, are now with the One you lived for and loved with all your heart.
Wish my little Donnie Happy Birthday tomorrow from all of us still here!

Our condolences go out to family and all of Dr. Montero's friends. He will be remembered for decades to come. Dr. Montero was my youngest daughter and my son's doctor for many years. Dr. Montero was my childhood Pediatrician and, I imagine, for most everyone else I grew up with in Pukaski. I remember feeling a little nervous to see him, but his bedside manner wasn't scary at all. I remember he smelled clean (good hand washing!) and sounded exotic to my ears. His professional skills were important to me and my family. And especially during this pandemic, I'm beyond grateful to him for those vaccinations. RIP Dr. Montero. Thank you. My condolences to his family.

Dr Montero was my first doctor as far as I know. He treated me in Pulaski starting when I was no more than 3 or 4. He was such a wonderful man and excellent physician. He later treated both my daughters in Marion when they were both very young. My daughters are grown now but we share fond memories of his care and compassion. We are forever grateful to him and offer our deepest condolences to his family.

Doctor Montero was my doctor in Pulaski until I was 18 years old. I dearly loved him. I am now 60 years old and have never forgotten him and his kindness and gentleness. Prayers for his family.

Rita, Amanda, & family I’m so sorry for your loss. Dr. Montero touched so many lives—-mine as a child then as a mother….He was a blessing to our community in so many ways…giving peace to parents who were stressed over their sick child, to the child struggling to breathe and terrified, to laughter with his stories and friendship, to his love and devotion for so much medicine, family and our Lord. Heaven has gained another wonderful physician and one day soon we’ll see him again until then he’s whistling at us through the winds and with the sunsets. R.I.P. Dr Montero was a knowledge, compassionate physician. As a RN, I worked with him at Smyth County Community Hospital. Dr Montero treated his patients, their families, and staff with dignity and respect. He faithfully served this community for many years and his practice touched countless number of families. He had a calming, therapeutic demeanor as he provided quality care for so many children. Sincere condolences with prayers are offered for the family.

My heart breaks of the passing of this wonderful man. He took such good care of my children. His whistle always settled them down. He was so gentle and loving with each child. I am deeply saddened to learn that Dr. Montero has passed away. This man was one of a kind. An angel from above who had compassion for his patients. He was my main pediatrician. But He Called Me His Miracle baby cause at the age of 3 I developed spinal meningitis and no body thought I was gonna live so he had everybody gather around my bed and pray before they medflighted me to Johnson City 
To know that he is no longer suffering gives my heart some relief. But selfishly, I wish he was still here with us.
I hope that his spirit on lives in each of us. That we do better by each other. Showing each other love and compassion. Even during life's worst moments.
Thank you for everything you for done for me throughout the years Dr. Montero. You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

Dr. Montero was our family pediatrician in Pulaski, VA. My two brothers and I remember him fondly. His kind, calming manner, gentle touch, and soothing voice made our childhood doctor visits much less stressful. I remember him whistling as he walked into the examination room. He will always be highly respected and remembered by all three of us.

Dr. Montero was my pediatrician. I loved him dearly! When I was 8, he stayed with me for hours while treating me for scarlet fever in the hospital. No doctor ever compared to him in all of my life.

Dr Montero will be greatly missed. My prayers for his family for peace and comfort. He was a great doctor. He was my pediatrician until I was 18. He was my children's pediatrician as well as my grandson. I will never forget when I took my children ages 2 and 4 for a checkup. The office was busy that day and kids were being kids crying, wanting to go, etc. When I was called back and he came in to examine my girls. He said Rita, I want to compliment you on your children's behavior. They were sitting there listening to you read and not misbehaving. He told that discipline started at home. I will never forget that.

Dr. Montero, Was a Wonderful dr to me and then my children. He always ended up having to give my girl his pen light. He must have had boxes of them. And when he retired it was very hard for my girl to let anyone else to do there check ups. And after he retired I was blessed to see he out and about with his close friends. We will Miss You Dearly!!
