Obituary of Joan "Joann" S. Tucker

MARION, Va.

Joan “Joann” S. Tucker, age 88, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Oakmont at Gordon Park, Bristol, Va.

Joan was a loving wife to Roy for 65 years, mom and mammaw. Her work life was filled with banking. Managing Charter Federal, and after retiring, working part-time at the Bank of Marion until her grandson Chase was born which began full-time Chase Tucker duties. Mrs. Tucker was a long time member of Marion Baptist Church and loved singing in the Joyful Noise Choir. She loved working in her flowers when she wasn’t with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Cora Mae Slagle; three brothers; and two sisters.

Joan is survived by her husband, Roy Vincent Tucker, Jr.; son Mark Tucker and wife, Diane; grandson, Chase Tucker, all of Marion, Va.; step-grandchildren, Tasha Wolfe and husband, Brett, of Sugar Grove, Va., Haley Smith of Marion, Va.; step-great-grandchildren, Lilli Smith, Harper Smith, Avalee Smith, Delaney Odham and Olivia Moretz.

The family would like to thank the staff of Oakmont at Gordon Park and the staff of Caris Hospice for the compassion shown and care given to Joan.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Charles Stewart officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 12 noon at Rose Lawn Mausoleum, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion, Va. 24354. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Family and friends are asked to follow the COVID-19 Safety & Social Distancing Guidelines.
