Obituary of Richard Lee "Rick" Pipes
CHILHOWIE, Va.
Richard Lee "Rick" Pipes, age 67, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at his home.
Rick was everybody's go to for help – anybody that needed anything, Rick was their man. He worked as a truck driver all of his life, that was his dream as early as twelve years old. He loved his life on the road and retired from Kegley Trucking in Chilhowie. Rick's heart for helping people will be missed by his family and friends in his Tiny Town community.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Martin Pipes; parents, Elmer and Josephine Pipes; brother, Elmer Lewis Pipes; and sister, Cecelia Arlene Pipes Bush.
Rick is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Pipes of Va., Rachel Reena Pipes of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Zane Lee Ayres and husband, Chris of Winchester, Va.; sons, Daniel Lee Pipes and wife, Kristen of Falling Waters, W.Va. and Paul Ray Pipes of Chilhowie, Va.; brothers, James Franklin Pipes of Chilhowie, Va. and Charles Robert Pipes and wife, Zane of Murphy Springs, W.Va.; many grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 at 5 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Minister Duane Witmer officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 5 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Family and friends are asked to follow the COVID-19 Safety & Social Distancing Guidelines.
