I loved Daphne very much, her keen and unwavering humor, hospitality, resolve, faith, joy of life, and true kindness always impressed me. Daphne was my first cousin, once removed, as she was my mother Grace Helms Hagedorn's first cousin. I always say another big tree has fallen when someone of consequence in my life passes but I feel her tree continues to live through her family and faith. When I think of Daphne I smile. My mother and I spoke with Mark and Daphne the evening after Christmas. Mark answered the phone and told us it had been a tiring day for Daphne, wondering if we could call back the next day in the early afternoon. Luckily and wisely, he changed his mind and we had a short but lovely conversation with Daphne. We will always treasure our last conversation with her. Thank you Mark for being there for her over the years as she declined, we both say a good son is a great man. Love to you, Ben, Corrine, and the many grandchildren and greatgrandchilden.

Mark, Ben, Corrie, and family,
We are sure each of you know how Daphne has tenderly touched the lives of so many in her lifetime. She always generously shared God’s love with all who were blessed enough to cross her path.
We were blessed to share many treasured moments with her as youth advisors, singing together in the choir, and sharing meals or even just sitting together on the porch or in her kitchen. Those memories span almost fifty years and we will always feel blessed to have shared in some of her unbounded love.
Please know how our hearts ache for each of you in this loss, but may your hearts be filled with God’s comforting grace.
With our condolences and love,
Cindy and Charles Looney

The years have flown by since I was privileged to spend time around the McCord's for a few days twice a year during the time around each of the NASCAR races held in the Fall and Spring back in the mid to late 1990's. I always enjoyed that time and found that Jim and Daphne and their family members were wonderful hosts, always cordial, friendly and helpful to anyone around. I'll always remember with fondness that time in my life and how lucky I was to run into such outstanding people. My deepest sympathies to the family members on their loss.

Daphne was such a special lady..We met through the 1900 Literary Club and she added so much to my every day..She and Musser Warren called me "the kid" because I was a little younger and drove them to lunch and our club meetings, often..It was a joy to visit her and spend time on her back terrace...I will cherish her memory...
Jack and I send heartfelt sympathy to her family.
