Obituary of Elizabeth Wassum
ELIZABETH WARRINER WASSUM passed away Monday October 24, 2005 in Marion at the home of her daughter, Erwin Rowland. She was attended by Erwin and her husband, David Rowland; her son, Charles Wassum III; her daughter-in-law, Anna-Stina; as well as a granddaughter, two great granddaughters and several compassionate and loving caregivers. "Lib" was born 87 years ago in Richmond, Virginia, to Dr. William Royal and Mrs. Erwin Kerr Warriner of Crewe, Virginia. She attended Marion College where she was May Queen and married Charles S. Wassum, Jr. on October 26, 1938. Her husband of 65 years predeceased her in December 2003. She is survived by her brother, William K. Warriner of Crewe, 6 grand-children and 14 great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the DAR, the first United Methodist Church in Marion and was a most dedicated and loving mother, daughter and wife. Two of her favorite scriptures were from the Sermon on the Mount, "Consider the lilies of the field…seek ye first the kingdom of God…", and the 23rd Psalm.
A graveside service will be conducted by Charles Wassum III on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is serving the Wassum family. Messages of Sympathy may be sent to 200 Larch St. Marion, Virginia 24354 or csw3jbs@area-net.com.
