I first met Dr.Fred when I bought a 1938 Buick with the self-shifter transmission in April of 2000. A fellow club member told me his name and said that he (Dr. Fred) knew more about hydramatic transmissions and self shifters than anyone in the world. It was true and he only lived two miles away. I called him up and he came over to see me a few minutes later. I also found a part for his 1947 Pontiac woodie wagon at Hershey. I returned to Fort Worth last week (11/30/05) after a 6 month absence on business and discovered I'd lost a friend.

Please accept my deepest sympathy on Freddie's passing. Although it has been many years since we have seen each other, you have remained in my memory and thoughts. I'll never forget Freddie's many kindnesses to my Mother, Villa, during her lifetime. She thought he was special.
