To all the Bauman family:
My siblings and I have so many wonderful memories of your mom and times our families visited together over the years. Always there were wonderful meals, the produce so fresh from Frank's garden, and the re-telling of familiar stories. Our parents would talk fast and deep of local, church and social concerns. Dixie would tell her jokes, always w/ a glint of mischief in her eyes! I can still hear her wonderful Southern drawl.
Carol remembers how pleased our mom (Juliet Milk) always was to tell the story of her "successful" matchmaking with Dixie and Frank (they were all missionaries in Cuba). Also, of how sad our mom was when they left Cuba.
Robert's comment was that our mom and Dixie were "kindred spirits" - beyond the sharing of their Southern heritage and culture was the deep sharing of faith, and the complexities of being women missionaries with families. This caused us to reflect that in many ways, perhaps Dixie was better able to share her talents in the rural pastorates of the Holston Conference than she had been able to in Cuba: she was one to break stereotypes, sharing her talents in her own ministries, and expressing her love through her hospitality and generosity.
I know you will be sharing many stories and feelings. I pray God's comfort and joy as you celebrate her life together. She has now joined "the crowd of witnesses" in heaven (Heb. 12:1).
With love from the Milk siblings,
Ann Klotz and Richard, Robert, Carol Reyes and Martha

I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mother was such a sweet lady. She was my Spanish teacher in high school, and her children were my classmates. I have fond memories of all the family. May the Good Lord comfort all of you.
