Obituary of Burleigh Williams
MARION, VIRGINIA: BURLEIGH E. "BEE" WILLIAMS, JR., age 77, died Friday, September 23, 2005 at VA Hospital, Johnson City, Tennessee. He was an active member of Atkins First Church of God and was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army in the Phillipines. He was a lifetime member of Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667 and was a well known mechanic in Smyth County, Virginia, having started working in the school bus garage. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nana Williams of Marion, Virginia; One son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Shirley Williams of Rural Retreat, Virginia; Four grandchildren, Robbie Williams and wife, Crystal of Marion, Virginia, April Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina, Cindy McKay and husband, Don and Chad Trivitt and wife Tracy all of Rural Retreat, Virginia; Four great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Dawson McKay, Kaitlyn and Delanie Trivitt all of Rural Retreat, Virginia. Two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brady and Faye Williams of Bristol, Virginia, and Lawrence and Ann Williams of Marion, Virginia; Two sisters and one brother-in-law, May Fitzgerald of Roanoke, Virginia, and Margaret and Ivan Ross of Sugar Grove, Virginia. One uncle, Frank Leonard and wife, Lola of Marion, Virginia, and forty-nine nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 25, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at Atkins First Church of God, Atkins, Virginia with Rev. Nouhad Melki officiating. Graveside Services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia where military rites will be conducted by Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. The family will receive friends Sunday evening at Atkins First Church of God immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Atkins First Church of God Building Fund, 6118 Lee Highway, Atkins, Virginia 24311.
