His obituary is a moving tribute to Shirl, and paints a perfect picture of him with words. I had many opportunities to visit with Shirl during the years I worked in the law office of his friend, Isaac Freeman, and enjoyed his humor immensely. He always seemed to be in good spirits with a good story to tell! His family obviously has many cherished memories of special times spent with a special man. It is my prayer that those memories will bring comfort to you all during your time of sadness and loss.

Uncle Shirl I'm going to miss you so much, and you brought so much joy into are lives. I will miss you calling me curly and your smile. The last time I saw you I really enjoyed are visit and I got to tell you I love you and you always told me back ,I will cherish that forever. I want you to go rest high on that beautiful Mountain now, and I'll see you again, I love you forever and will miss you dearly
