This man had a profound affect & on my family & I. The Lord used him in so many ways throughout my life. There are so many memories & so much gratitude, that I would need space to write a book. The First Church of God on Chatham Hill & Preacher Mozingo will be etched in my mind forever. That was where the seed was deeply planted for the beginning of my walk of faith throughout my life. Im very thankful to the Lord for that church & this man of God.

I am sorry to hear of your loss and my delay in finding out. He was one fine man, first met him as he ask a blessing over me as I was entering surgery in 1993 and last time I saw him he asked a blessing to keep me safe as I was heading out to deer hunt early one morning and ran into him at McDonalds. I am thankful to have known him. Danny Rose

I first met Reverend Mozingo at SCCH when my dad was dying. He would come by every day and sit and talk to me or pray with me. Most days he would do both. He was a kind and noble man. He truly helped me through one of the worst times of my life. He was such good man. And now he is home with the Lord. He will be missed here on earth by a great many people.

Rev. Mozingo was always a bright light at SCCH. He could make your day better, just with his smile and sweet demeanor. He was a very kind, compassionate man who was always there to help, no matter what. He wasn't just there for the patients and their families, he was there for anyone in need. Even as his health was not the best, he still came to volunteer to be there to help others. He devoted his life to serving the Lord and helping others and he did that better than anyone I know. I am blessed to have known him. Heaven has received a precious angel. Now he will rejoice in Heaven with all of the angels for eternity!

Wish I could light a candle for every person that he befriended, comforted and inspired. He was the first to our home when my father, his friend and golf buddy, passed. Rev. Mozingo was a very special, one of a kind minister. Thoughts go to the family in hopes of sending a little comfort as he did for me.

What fond memories I have of this fine gentleman. Prayers and blessings to his family. He was very instrumental in my family becoming involved in church many years ago, baptizing my parents and being a blessing with his kind way and words throughout the entire 40+ years I have known him. His thoughtful messages were always inspiring, his loving encouragement was always appreciated, and his pleasant demeanor was such a testimony to the joy in his heart. When he sang, the words came from deep in his soul. He always was a voice of reason and compassion. I have never had the pleasure of knowing anyone just quite like this fellow and am deeply saddened by his passing, but surely he is with the Lord now.

I was saddened to hear of Rev. Neville's passing, but grateful that he has claimed his heavenly reward. My memories of Bro. Mozingo goes back to my days as a youth. I remember he and Patty pastored the Marion Church of God while I attended the Atkins Church. One distinct remembrance is during a tent meeting on the grounds of the Atkins Church. I remember Bro. Mozingo praying and counselling with me at that meeting. After that, there was a special bond and connection between us. He was always a gentle source of inspiration and encouragement to me. My life was blessed in knowing him. He was a godly man who encouraged others by the life he led. I last visited with Bro. Mozingo at Marion Manor on February 5th of this year. I was able to speak a few words of thanks to him for how he impacted my life. May our God grant the family an overabundance of His love, comfort and strength now and in the days to come.

January 14, 1978.
My Mother, Mattie G. Fields was in the Intensive Care Unit.
On the outside, it was snowing like a blizzard.
While sitting in the far corner of the waiting room, I thought to myself
I don’t think Moma is going to be here much longer and I
Want someone who knows the Lord to see her. I thought to myself
what Black Preacher could I call to come and see my Moma ? Then thinking
“Ain’t nobody is going to come out in this mess! ”
A few minutes later a man came in very loud and boisterous speaking to
The receptionist “ How Many Of My People Do I Have In Here ” obviously
He was some kind of preacher, but I thought to myself Moma ain’t going to
be here much longer, but he “ Ain’t the one ! ” So I didn’t make a move.
A few minutes later another man came in very quiet spoken, spoke to the receptionist
Got a newspaper then went into the little concession stand and got some coffee
As I watched, it was like the Lord had said to me, he is a Minister go and talk with him.
Which I did explaining that I mother was in the Intensive Care and that I wanted
Someone who knew the Lord to go and visit her, which he agreed and offered me
A cup of coffee, to which I replied “ No Thank You ” but if you go and see my mother
I would appreciate it.
Awhile later he returned and told me he had gone to see my mother, explained who he was and that
I’d asked him to come and see her, he then told me that he believed that she was coherent because when she heard what he had said he noticed a particular reaction which was confirmation to me that even though she was connected to life support she understood.
Later on he came back to check on me and we had a conversation in which he
Asked me where did I go to church, to which I replied
“ Jesus Said, Where Two Or Three Are Gathered In My Name ”
There Am I In The Midst Of Them!
To which he replied it seems you are against Organized Religion
My response “ Well Everything They Do Ain’t Right ! ”
Our conversation ended with my asking him whatever happens come what may
I want you to be apart of it, he agreed and after my Mother passed
I chose him to preach her funeral, and that is another story.
My Mother used to say " Outta Sight, Don't Mean Outta Mind & Heart !
So for me, such is the case with " My Brother Neville Mozingo " because I learned through my
Mothers' Passing, when you Truly Love someone, they are always with you we may not
be able to reach out and touch them, but the Love we shared continues in us, as long as we
" Are Still In The Land Of The Living "

When I think of Rev. Mozingo, I think of how kind and humble he was as he walked the halls of Smyth County Hospital, anticipating the needs of both the employees and the patients. His kindness and loving concern for those he came in contact with will long be remembered. He will always hold the titles of THE Chaplain of the Hospital, and The Community Pastor. God rest his soul, he more than earned his wings. What a testimony he has left with us, and what a role model he was. Our sympathy goes to his family and friends during this time of loss.

Reverend Mozingo, Will surely be missed. I have known Neville since I was 28 years Old when he came to Marion to preach at the first Church of God. He met so much to my family and me. He followed our progress through the years and I hated it when he left to go to West Virginia but the Lord had called him there. We were so glad when he returned to this town and became the Chaplin at Smyth County Community Hospital and the Pastor of the First Church of God once again. He has been a pillar of the community and every one loved him and his wonderful smile and loving nature. I remember When he found out my son inlaw had gone to Bible College and became a minister. He sent them a letter of congratulations. All I can say is he was a wonderful Person and I will miss him. Prayers for his family.

Thank you for your kindness, friendship and compassion for helping others over the years. You were loved by everyone you ever came into contact with and I don't think you really knew just how many lives you have touched over the years or the impact you have had on the lives of many people including my own. When I worked at SCCH I always remember you coming to ICU every morning to check on not only the patients but the staff as well. You always had a kind word for anyone who needed one. You were always there at any hour of the day or night that we needed you to comfort a family in during a time of loss or crisis. My heart is broken but our loss is Heaven's gain. Rest in Peace dear sweet Reverend Mozingo. You will be dearly missed.

Years ago, Neville was leading singing at the Glade church revival. Gene Little forgot to ask your dad to pick out the songs for the first night. He called me to have a song line-up ready.
Patty was playing the piano and I was on the organ. She came early to go over the songs. She said Neville called her to do a line-up just in case he didn't have time or we didn't have one. Long story short, we had picked out the exact same songs. When Neville arrived right before service, Patty handed him our list. He stood to open the service. He explained how he had put together a list of songs right before he came and that Patty had made a list of the exact same songs. Patty and I dropped our mouths and stared at each other. We knew all three of us picking out the exact same songs was more than a coincidence. As long as I live, I will never forget that.
Rev. Mozingo was a special man. He was loved by everyone he touched.

My tribute:
Rev. Bro. Neville Mozingo
He stepped up to his calling
God gave him long ago.
He preached the Holy gospel
Where ever he may go.
As chaplain he served countless
From cradle to the grave.
And counseled oh so many
In hopes a soul to save.
So now his time has come where
The Lord has called him home
To gather with the Saints there,
His victory has been won.
The ones that went before him
Have welcomed him with cheer
To celebrate his coming,
To hold him oh so near.
As we say good bye to
Our brother, father, friend
We’ll keep on looking upward
And join him in the end.
