Sydney McDole posted a condolence

I just learned about Bob's passing. I worked with Bob on several litigation matters over many years at Jones Day, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed. He was smart, had a fantastic memory, worked hard, and had amazing insight into people and events. Bob was great in big meetings and as a witness because he sized up situations so well, always kept calm, and set a perfect tone. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh. I'm so sorry he's gone, but I like to think he's making jokes with the angels now. Sydney McDole, Dallas.

Growing up next door to “Mrs. E”, Carol, and my trusty childhood side-kick Philip, I knew him as “Uncle Bob”. To a child his personality was larger than life and I remember when he and Wizzy would show up for visits with his voice booming and the household springing to life at their arrival. When the Estep boys were visiting their mother, it was always exciting with lots of people stopping by to visit. My memories of him include being well educated, a strong sense of always wanting to learn and explore, and how much he loved Mrs. E, Carol, and Philip.

I was so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was one of the kindest, smartest and funniest men I knew. He and Wiz always made me feel so welcome whether I was visiting their house in Dallas with Laura or the family beach house in Holden Beach. I will never forget the honorable Mr. Robert Estep.

We were not lucky enough to know Bob very well personally, however we know the tremendous impact he had on his family and those around him. His legacy of love and generosity lives on in all of those he touched. Mere words cannot express the depth of our sympathy for your loss.
With love and compassion,
Mary Ellen and Joe Liseno

I am extremely sad to learn that Bob has passed away from Covid 19. I had the privilege to work with him over many years as an associate, partner and client. Bob was an example of the best of the legal profession. He combined great skill with unwavering integrity, empathy, humor and kindness. Bob’s love of family and faith gave him a balance that was rare and precious. My sincere condolences to Wiz and the rest of Bob’s family and friends.

I was very saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. Having practiced law with him for more than 20 years (from the outset of my career), I was continually impressed with his intellect, knowledge, judgment, demeanor and integrity. He was a scholar, gentleman, leader, mentor and friend. I am privileged to be among the many whose lives were enriched by having known Bob, and by whom he will be missed. He and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so very sorry to hear about Bobby. I cannot imagine your sadness and feeling of loss. He was such a kind, gentle soul. To have been with him for nearly half a century is such a tribute to the both of you, Wizzy. I still remember going to see you guys (with Carol) when you were at UVA. That’s been awhile, hasn’t it?
I will continue to pray for you every day. I know you are a close family and will hold each other up through this hard time.
Love to each of you,
Genie Sneed-Haulsee

So very sorry to hear of your loss. "Bobby" was my senior government teacher when I attended Marion Sr. High School in 1965. Great teacher. My family and his family were well acquainted for many, many years.
Just know that my thoughts and prayers are on you and your family during this most difficult time.
