Growing up, the Fitzpatrick's were my neighbors. Miss Fitz also used to substitute teach at the High School in Marion when I was a student there and I remember her big laugh and big , warm personality. The thing I remember about her the most was her willingness to help others. One morning in the spring of 1982, Steve Tolliver and I were driving to school and we ran out of gas on RT 11. Miss Fitz passed us on her way to the High School and she turned around, picked us up and drove us home which probably made her late for school. Thanks Miss Fitz, we never forgot your kindness.

Sara was a kind woman and helpful people and never had a selfish side to her, she has taught me well and I learned from her over the years and she will be missed but not forgotten and we will see her again soon because I know she’s with Jesus.

I am a Marion graduate Class of 2002 and when I saw Mrs. Fitzpatrick's photo it instantly took me back to the bible school program through the school. Wow, what an incredible testimony. She had an impact on so many lives. I am personally and eternally grateful. May the Lord overwhelm you with His peace and comfort this side of Eternity until we meet again.

Dear Larry and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Sara was a treaasure, and loved by so many. I have such wonderful memories of her, especially the trip we made to Maryville, TN decades ago to attend the Methodist School of Mission. She embodied God's work on this earth, and always served with a smile and great humor. You all are in my prayers today and I hope the love and support of our community will help ease the pain of losing Sara. With much sympathy, Ruth Greer

Mrs.Fitz has touched so many of us in smyth county. As kids their was nothing better then the one day of the week that we got to leave the school and go to Mrs.Fitz Bible school. She always had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. I remember one year I had lost my winter coat. That was the year my dad about died and was in icu that winter. My mom was the only one working at that time and there was no extra money to replace my lost coat. I went it bible school in just a sweater it was very cold and staring to snow. We was expecting a big snow that week. She pulled me to the side and asked me where my coat was because I was going to get sick. I explained I lost it and until dad was better and back at work we couldn’t replace it. Later that day before school was over I was asked to step out in the hallway. Mrs.Fitz had went out after her last bible school class and went and got me a purple winter coat with gloves ,a hat, and a scarf to match. Oh how I loved that fluffy warm coat. From that day forward my favorite color was purple. She told me that day make sure it fits sweetie and if we are out of school for snow you make sure you bundle up in this and you go play in that snow! I gave her a big hug and she left. The following week it was time for bible school and when I went it she gave me a huge smile and said did you play in the snow? Of course I did! Mrs .Fitz touched my heart at a very young age. Her act of kindness still to this day makes me smile when I think of her. So sorry for the families lost. My prayers are with you.
