Obituary of June Osborne
SUGAR GROVE, Va.
LAVADA JUNE OSBORNE, age 92, died Friday, October 18, 2019 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.
June was born November 2, 1926 in Sophia, WV to the late Wiley and Ossie Shumate Mitchell. She was a loving wife, Mom, Granny June and faithful friend. She loved her Lord and was a founding member of Brookside Baptist Church in Sugar Grove, Va. She worked at Harwood, Mr. Casuals, Brunswick and following retirement she kept children. Over the years her no-bake cookies were loved by all! She adored her family just as much as they did their Granny June. In addition to her family, she enjoyed reading her Bible, baseball games on TV and bird watching.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Osborne; brothers, Bill Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Charlie Mitchell, Louis Mitchell, Cy Mitchell and infant brother, Donald Mitchell; sister, Mary Lilly; brother-in-law, Charles Lilly; sisters-in-law, Rose Mitchell, Ruth Mitchell, Peggy Mitchell and "Bug" Mitchell.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Atwood Sr. and wife Jeannie, Mike Osborne and wife Angie all of Sugar Grove, Va.; five grandchildren, Larry Atwood, Jr., and wife Missy, Paul Atwood and wife Gail, Mark Atwood, Matthew Atwood and wife, Bobbie, and Amber Lanier; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers Dale Mitchell and Gayle Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Juanita Mitchell and Shirley Mitchell; several nieces and nephews and special great niece and great nephew, Megan and Devin.
To honor June's wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
