Obituary of Bertha Campbell
SUGAR GROVE, Va.
BERTHA CAMPBELL, age 92, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.
Bertha loved the Lord, her family and her friends. She was a proud and faithful member of Valley View Baptist Church. Ms. Bertha made many friends and memories working for years at Buster Brown and Brunswick. She loved reading her Bible – especially Song of Solomon chapter 2, and looking at the Rose of Sharon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Campbell; son, Joe Smith; granddaughters, Geneva Pierce and Roberta Holman; and parents, Franklin and Rebecca Eller Martin.
Bertha is survived by her daughters, Rebbeca Ashby and Mary Bell; sister, Louise Wassum and husband, Jim; brother, Arthur Martin and wife, Carol; eight grandchildren, Gabriella Felty, Amy Colgate and husband, Ronnie, Elizabeth Parks and husband, Ricky, Becky Ashby and special friend, Kendrick, Melinda Holman and special friend, Will Dolinger, James "Pewee" Ashby and wife, Michelle, Adam Ashby and wife, Patty, Walter Ashby and friend, Lowell; 14 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kelly and Barbara Bridges.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Valley View Baptist Church, 1622 Slabtown Road, Sugar Grove, Va. 24375. Burial will follow in Slemp Cemetery, 234 Horne Hollow Road, Sugar Grove, Va. 24375. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until the time of service at Valley View Baptist Church.
