Obituary of David Charles "Dave" Stratton
CHILHOWIE, Va.
DAVID "DAVE" CHARLES STRATTON, age 79, died Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stratton; and brother, Dana Stratton.
Dave is survived by his wife Clara R. (Lowe) Stratton of Chilhowie, Va.; daughters, Vicki Stratton of River Falls, Wis., Roxy O'Regan and husband, Edward of Brattleboro, Vt., Cynthia Hines of Ironsides, Md., and Kimberly Ragan of Scottsdale, Ariz.; son, Kevin Stratton of Crofton, Md.; sister, Sharron Stratton of Portland, Oreg.; and brother, Edward Stratton of R.I.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and his friendly neighbor, Eric.
Dave loved the water and it was a good thing – after 21 years serving in the U. S. Navy. He spent nine years in a submarine. He loved fishing – loved fishing. David was a wonderful husband to Clara, his wife and was the one person who never let her down. Dave was the best father, granddad and friend you could have. He loved traveling and experiencing new things. When he wasn't working or fishing, he enjoyed bowling and motorcycling. Dave's absence will leave a large emptiness in the lives of his family and friends, but the wonderful memories will fill their hearts for years to come.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held privately at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Military Rites conducted by U. S. Navy Honor Guard.
