Obituary of Maxine Phelps Reedy
SUGAR GROVE, Va.
MAXINE PHELPS REEDY, age 84, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at Francis Marion Manor.
Mrs. Reedy was Sugar Grove Royalty, and was loved by her students from the Sugar Grove School where she taught most of her 38 ½ years. She loved children and enjoyed catching up with her former students and they loved her. Maxine was true to her community and was active in the Rye Valley Ruritan Club and the Red Hat Society. She loved her Elizabeth United Methodist Church family and was a long-time faithful member. Maxine loved sports – especially her Hokies, but most of all she loved her family, and enjoyed spending time eating and shopping. She was a positive force in so many lives and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Reedy; parents, Wayne and Madge Phelps; and brother, Raymond D. Phelps.
Maxine is survived by her son, Ben Reedy and wife, Pam of Marion, Va.; brother, George C. Phelps and wife, Betty of Laurinburg, N.C.; granddaughters, Lauren and Claire Rupe; special friends, Glenna Keyes, Ann Patterson and Sandy Linkous; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sugar Grove Elementary School, Attn: Kathy Thompson, 242 Teas Road, Sugar Grove, Va. 24375, to construct a shelter for their playground.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Kenny Price officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service.
