Obituary of Robert Edmond McCarty
MARION, Va.
Robert Edmond McCarty; There is great sorrow in our hearts while the heavens rejoice welcoming Robert Edmond McCarty to his eternal home.
Bobby met his Savior Jesus face to face Wednesday, March 6, 2019, after a blessed life in his temporary home here on earth. He fought a good fight against Angiosarcoma, always saying "It is well with my soul."
Bobby served in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman in the South Pacific and Asia. He continued his work in the medical field in various professional aspects, and around the world, winning numerous awards along the way. He impacted young people far and wide all his life through his generosity as a coach, Sunday school teacher, mentor and volunteer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Mary Katherine McCarty; big brother, Donald; and two children, Kellye McCarty (USN) and Jeff McCarty (USN).
Bobby is survived by his wife Melanie, whom he loved deeply for over 30 years; his beautiful daughter, Shellye Green and husband, Tim of Bedford, Texas; five wonderful grandchildren, Ashlee Kirkland and husband, Ryan, Aaron McCarty and wife, Alyssa all of San Antonio, Texas, Garrett Green and wife Ellie of Bedford, Texas, Taylor McCarty, of San Antonio, Texas, Brigham McCarty and wife, Katelyn of Bedford, Texas; the light of his life, great-granddaughter, Ella Kirkland, and due to arrive in July, great-grandson, Asher Green; sister, Jenna Cole and husband, Johnny of Montgomery, Texas; brother, Kent McCarty and wife, Carol of Euless, Texas; sister-in-law, Geraldine McCarty of Eugene, Ore.; special parents-in-law, Russell and MaryAnn Martin of Chilhowie, Va.; and many loving nieces and nephews in California, Oregon, Arizona, Texas and Florida.
A SWEET Celebration of Bobby's life will be held Saturday, March 09, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Chilhowie Christian Church, 172 Apple Valley Road, Chilhowie, Va. 24319.
