Obituary of Robert E. (Robbie) Smith

Saltville, Va.

Robert E. (Robbie) Smith, age 76, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019.

Robbie served in the U.S. Airforce and retired after 35 years of service with the U.S. Government.

He is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Rachel Smith.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters, Shari Thomas and husband, Mike of McDonough, Ga., Misty Marbut and husband, David of Villa Rica, Ga.; son, Robert L. Smith of Seven Mile Ford, Va.; grandchildren, Ashlea and Shawn Porter of Savannah, Ga., Justin Whitley of McDonough, Ga., brother, Stanley Smith and wife, Nancy of Saltville, Va.; sisters, Imogene Arnold and husband, Doug of Kingsport, Tenn., Geneva June Odom of Abingdon, Va., Linda Cruey and husband, Johnny of Columbus, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his special furry buddy, Gabby.

The family would like to thank Dr. J. Swank, Dr. E. Henry, Dr. C. Metzger, Abingdon Oncology Department, and all the staff who provided Robbie's care.

In keeping with Robbie's wishes, the family had a private viewing and private burial.
