Obituary of John Lewis Halsey

Atkins, Va. John Lewis Halsey, age 60, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va. John was born May 24, 1958 in Grayson County, Va. He was a dedicated employee with over 30 years of service with Virginia House Furniture. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Above all John was a loving husband, father and friend to many, and his presence will be missed. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Sharon Pruitt Halsey; and sister Eula Jean Halsey Greer. John is survived by his daughter, LeAnn Halsey of Marion, Va.; son, Jarred Halsey of Atkins, Va.; parents, John Levi and Winnie Maude Dowell Halsey of Speedwell, Va.; brothers, Kenneth Halsey and wife, Sandy of Rural Retreat, Va., Dale Halsey and wife, Angelia of Wytheville, Va.; brother-in-law, Perry B. Greer of Rural Retreat, Va.; special friend, Phillip Creasy; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Jerry Creasy officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with final expenses would be appreciated.
