Obituary of Charles Bruce Mitchell

Troutdale, Va.

Mr. Charles Bruce Mitchell, age 86, died at his home Thursday night, November 30, 2018.

Mr. Mitchell was born January 3, 1932 to the late Wiley Wenton and Ossie Belle Shumate Mitchell. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, an employee of Brunswick Corporation of Marion, Va. for 41 years, and a member of Troutdale Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lilly Mitchell; five brothers, William “Bill” Mitchell, Lewis Mitchell, Cyrus Mitchell, Carl “Jack” Mitchell and infant brother, Donald Franklin Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 59 years, Juanita Billings Mitchell of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Lisa Mitchell of Sugar Grove, Va., and Bruce and Glenda Mitchell of Saltville, Va.; four grandchildren, Megan Coley and son, Miles Coley, Devin Mitchell, Angela Thomas and Tommie Hopkins; six-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Gale Mitchell of Rural Retreat, Va. and Joe Dale Mitchell of Emory, Va.; one sister, Lavada June Osborne of Sugar Grove, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Troutdale Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Riggins and Reverend Scott Flippin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Troutdale Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Grayson County V.F.W. Post #7726.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Troutdale Rescue Squad, 291 Ripshin Road, Troutdale Va. 24378
