Obituary of John Thomas Crvich, Sr.

RURAL RETREAT, Va. John Thomas Crvich, Sr., age 85, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his son's residence. John was born March 7, 1933 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Nicholas and Mary Sucich Crvich. He was a 33 Degree Mason, an accomplishment he was very proud of, and held active memberships in both the Mt. Airy Lodge #226 of Rural Retreat and the Scottish Rite Bodies of Corinth, Mississippi. John was also former co-owner / operator of the Appalachian Rail in Rural Retreat. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Crvich. John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine Stelter Crvich of Rural Retreat, Va.; sons, John T. Crvich, Jr. and wife, Maraa Massel of Raleigh, N.C., Anton N. Crvich and wife, Pam of Salem, Oreg., Nick J. Crvich and wife, Anet of Rural Retreat, Va., and Earnest M. Crvich of Boulder, Colo.; daughters, Jill Marie Crvich and husband, Jonathan Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Jane Ellen Wilson and husband, Ron of Fulton, Miss.; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with John's wishes, services will be private. The family requests no flowers; memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 818, Bluefield WV, 24701.
