Obituary of Robert W. "Bobby" Osborne
MARION, Va.
Robert W. “Bobby” Osborne age, 72, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 20th, 2018.
Bobby was affectionately known as “Pappy” by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his former co-workers at Hapco in Meadowview, Va. where he retired in 2008 following 25 years of dedicated service. Bobby was a resident of Southwest Virginia all of his life. He loved fishing, family, old westerns, and playing his guitar.
He was preceded in death by wife Karon Osborne, his mother and father Melvin and Nancy Osborne, brothers Merle Osborne, Wayne Osborne, and Jerry Osborne, and sister June Chapman.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Mary Osborne of Marion, Va.; children, Chance Wright and wife, Amanda of Rural Retreat, Va., Sloane Anderson and husband, Roger of Chilhowie, Va., Jason Ratcliffe and significant other, Wendy Greer of Marion, Va., Brooke and husband, Sean Jenkins of Bristol, Tenn., and McKayla Heath of Asheville, N.C.; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Violet and Wade Henderson, of Saltville, Va. and Sharon and Robert Anderson of Rich Valley, Va.; sisters-in-law Brenda Osborne of Marion, Va., Katherine Osborne of Abingdon, Va., Sandy Vernon of Rural Retreat, Va., Judy Winebarger and Melanie Slagle both of Marion, Va.; special friends, Bob Roop, Phillip Creasy, both of Marion, Va., Tom Holley of Saltville, Va., and Larry and Loretta Underwood of Blue Springs, MO were very important in Bobby’s journey. Bobby was well loved by many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends, and community members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Bob Surber officiating and Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. Special music will be provided by Alisha Henderson. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to: Adwolfe Freewill Baptist Church, 1032 Grubmore Road, Marion, Va. 24354, where he and his wife Mary were members, the National Kidney Foundation, 1742 East Parham Drive, Richmond, Va. 23228 in honor of his great-grandson Kaden, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 246, Abingdon, Va. 24212, in honor of his 9-year battle.
