Dear family, I would like to express my sympathy upon the passing of your Mother. I know how lonely and heartbreaking it is when one loses their Mom or Dad, as well as brothers or other very close family members and friends. Some days are so hard to get through with dry eyes, other days we just lean on others for comfort. Never forgotton, always on our mind. Charlotte, Lou, John, and families,
Our thoughts and prayers are for your strength and endurance as you face this period of loss. My mom (Carol) and dad (Bill) thought so much of their friendship with Val and Dr. Jim. I can remember the many times that my brothers and I would walk out Chatham Hill Road, to the small pond on their land used for the horses, to fish all day.

Charlotte, Lou, John, and to everyone who loved and admired Val Thompson Maxwell,
If a person is truly fortunate, he will encounter someone in his life who was truly special. Val Thompson Maxwell was one of those people. She was warm. She was caring. She was welcoming. She was gracious. She was giving, and the welcome mat was always out at her home.
If a person is truly blessed, he will have had someone like Val Thompson Maxwell in his life, and we are two of those fortunate people. The door was always open. There always seemed to be something good to eat or drink in the refrigerator, and no one ever flashed the lights on and off to let you know that you had overstayed your welcome. There was no limit to the hospitality in the Thompson household.
Furthermore, if you wanted to know what kind of people that Dr. Jim and Val Thompson were, you only had to meet Charlotte, Tommy, Lou, and John. All four of them inherited those special qualities that endeared their patents to us.
The world is a better place for having Val Thompson Maxwell, and anyone who was fortunate enough to be even a small part of her life was truly blessed.
