Obituary of Graham Gardner
MARION, VIRGINIA: GRAHAM LLOYD GARDNER, age 79, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 on his beloved farm in Smyth County, Virginia (McMullin Community) where he was born July 21, 1925. The farm had been in his family for over 100 years and he had a great love of fishing, hunting and farming. Mr. Gardner was a 1943 Marion High School graduate and worked with the Thomas Bridge Water Corp when it was first organized and served as president. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gray L. and Maude Young Gardner; a brother, Lansdowne Gardner; and his first wife, Betty Myers Gardner. Mr. Gardner is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Lois Widner Gardner of Marion, Virginia. Three step-daughters, Dawn Babcock of Lockport, New York; Sherry Crudo of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and Debbie Matos of Fort Pierce, Florida. One step-son, Robert L. Babcock of New Port Richey, Florida. Ten step-grandchildren, three nephews, Edward, Jack, and Joe, two nieces, Margaret and Judy. Many close friends including George Walker and Everette Umbarger also survive. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
