Obituary of Vivian Sneed Murphy

MARION, Va.

Vivian Sneed Murphy passed away Sunday morning, March 18, 2018. Vivian or "Woo" to her family was born June 13, 1924 in Norton, Va. to the late William Taylor Sneed and Russell Jessie Sneed. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother W.R. Sneed, a sister Mildred Sneed MacWhite and her husband, George W. Murphy.

Vivian retired from Robertshaw Controls – Fulton Division in Knoxville, Tenn. after many years of employment. She had friends in every walk of life and will be missed by all who had the blessing of having her in their lives.

Vivian is survived by two nieces, Susan L. Sneed and Genie Sneed-Haulsee (Charlie); nephew, Rusty Sneed (Pat) all of Marion, Va.; great-niece, Lisa Warren Gibson and husband,Tom of Mount Jackson, Va.; great-great-nieces, Alex Gibson and Callie Gibson both of Richmond, Va.; special friends Dave and Jeannie Jones, Katy Crosby, Tyler Jones, Rogers and Cindy Holland, and Vicki Henson.

The family would like to thank her very special caregivers, Jessica Hanshew, Charlene Miller, and Frieda French.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Broadway Baptist Church, 815 North Broadway Street, Knoxville, TN 37917.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Smyth County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1124, Marion VA 24354.
