George F. Cook, Jr. age 77, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Roanoke, Va.
George, Poppy, Jack or Pete – however you knew George Cook, he loved his family, his farm and his country. He grew up in Rich Valley. In fact, he graduated from Rich Valley High School in 1957 and the day after enlisted in the US Air Force where his service, the greatest experience of his life, took him around the world – Germany to New Mexico to Florida just to name a few. He retired from the Air Force in 1967 and returned to work his family farm in Rich Valley where he loved working with his cows, hay and equipment. He could fix anything and loved his time on the farm where he spent many years riding his grandsons on his tractor and four-wheeler. George Fred Cook, Jr. was just a good man and he will be missed.
