Obituary of Michael James Mullinax
MARION, Va.
Michael James Mullinax, age 68, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C.
Michael loved life. He loved his friends and family, and most importantly he loved his God. Now he is walking in Heaven with his brother Donnie and best buddies, Gary Stoots and Mikey Combs. Michael was a Vietnam Veteran and worked many years at Brunswick and General Dynamics. He loved being in the woods, hunting, sleeping, and spending time with "G". Michael had the voice of an angel and sang Gospel music with the Gethsemane Echoes.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald "Donnie" Barron Mullinax; grandparents, Fletcher and Inez Mullinax, and Jasper Dennis Taylor and Lillian "Igan" Gailord Taylor, known to Michael as granddaddy and grandmother.
Michael is survived by the love of his life, his wife Lisa Tilson Mullinax; son, Jason Michael Mullinax and fiancée, Daisy Blevins ; special daughter, Jessica Anne Mullinax; step-children, Heather Holston and husband, Jamie, Misty Ashe and husband, Jon, and Stephen Blevins and fiancée, Dawn Sessoms; his parents, Preacher Buddy Mullinax and Anne Taylor "Mrs. Anne" Mullinax; brother, Pastor Jerry Mullinax and wife, Norma; sisters, Karen Corn and husband, Gerry, Miriam Kelly and husband, Gerry, and Susan Moody and husband, David; sister-in-law, Judy Ferrell and husband, John; grandchildren, Taylor Mullinax, Dixie Grace Mullinax, Lilly Mullinax, Luke Michael Mullinax, Garrett "G" Holston, Colin Michael Holston, and Aras Ashe; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends; and his beloved dogs, Piper and Lucy Belle.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. Buddy Mullinax, Pastor Jerry L. Mullinax and Mr. Jason M. Mullinax officiating. Burial will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn. with Military Rites conducted by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
